Wachapreague
"Little City by the Sea"
About
Mid-Atlantic Coastal Rowing is based in Wachapreague, a historic town of 250 residents on Virginia’s Atlantic coast. Walk the quiet historic neighborhoods, bike the quiet streets at your leisure and enjoy amazing bird-watching. The waterfront features some of the last undeveloped wetlands on the mid-Atlantic seaboard.
For the growing sport of coastal rowing, Wachapreague offers exceptional opportunities to row in a variety of water conditions including easy channels, wide open bays and Atlantic ocean surf.
The town offers a hotel, bed and breakfasts, sport-fishing, kayaking opportunities, art galleries featuring local artists, a friendly gourmet coffee shop, and waterfront dining at the Island House restaurant. Call ahead for an eco-tourism boat ride to see dozens of bird, mammal and sea creatures, or tour the new campus of the Virginia Institute of Marine Science of the College of William and Mary situated between our boathouse and the water.
